Andy Wiederhorn has a penchant for burger chains.
The CEO of brand-collecting company Fat Brands joins this week’s episode of the Restaurant Business podcast A Deeper Dive to discuss its planned $25 million purchase of Johnny Rockets, announced last week.
Rockets would be the third burger chain for the company, along with flagship Fatburger and the more recently acquired Elevation Burger. But Rockets would also be its biggest, doubling the company’s overall unit count and earnings.
Wiederhorn explains the rationale behind the acquisition and discusses how the company plans to finance the purchase. He also discusses several other issues, including the market for acquisitions, ghost kitchens, delivery, artificial meat and virtual brands.
