The paintings of the Clammers are amazing and I love how the figure of the clammers just jumps out at you. Such a great way to include life drawing into a pastel composition.

Love that she leaves the detail for the subject, and what interesting subjects, and prefers to leave the background almost abstract…!! Her color choices are stunning as are her compositional skills…although, as she says, a lot of that composition comes from the figures themselves doing their thing. Makes me want spend some time on figure drawing.
Thanks Gail, truly inspiring!

Her painting pointers are “right on” for me at this point, and I will strive to emulate what she so well explained here. Thank you for sharing this.

So much dedication to regular workers’ lives and actions is fascinating. Plus the geometric shapes of the humans are so important. I am wondering whether this approach could be used successfully with other objects or landscape features that lend themselves to geometry-I am thinking industrial or windblown trees.
