3 concepts from Asia are making their U.S. debut

These three chains are big in Asia and elsewhere, but they opened units in the U.S. for the first time last week. Two are full-service concepts, from China and Mongolia, and a third is an innovative pastry shop from Taiwan.

Wonder raises $700M, says it's 'time to scale'

The delivery-centric food hall startup founded by entrepreneur Marc Lore has now raised $1.5 billion to date and plans to expand to 90 locations by the end of next year.

The fry-centric virtual restaurant brand has nearly tripled in size since the acquisition thanks to partnerships with Mexican chains such as On the Border and Monterey’s Little Mexico.

The properties will become part of a new digital restaurant company called Everybody Eats that will include C3 and Nextbite.

The joint company, BiteLabs, will span the Americas with its high-tech, multibrand fast casuals. Just don’t call it a ghost kitchen.

This new concept coming to St. Louis will have two hydroponic vertical farms attached to the restaurant where fresh lettuces are harvested just feet away from diners.

The first Whole Foods Market Daily Shop will offer groceries as well as grab-and-go meals and a cafe concept called Juice & Java.

Growing the Sambazon Açai Bowls concept will mean competing with its own CPG products and foodservice clients, but the CEO says it's about communicating the brand's mission.

All 51 units of China Coast went dark on the same Tuesday morning. But that didn't stop its parent from considering other entries into the Asian market.

The unit in Quakertown, Pa., is the first of up to four such outlets for the delivery-focused food hall concept.
