McDonald’s new drive-thru beverage concept now has its own mobile app.
CosMc’s, which opened to long lines in Illinois last year and now has four locations, three of which are in Texas, this week debuted its new mobile app on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
The app provides users with a free welcome drink upon sign-up, a free birthday cookie or brownie and points for every purchase that can later be redeemed for menu items. The loyalty program awards 10 points for every $1 spent, with customers getting $2 in rewards once they accumulate 400 points.
The mobile orders will be key for the concept as it grows. Beverage concepts, led by chains like Starbucks and Dunkin’, have trained consumers to order via app.
Beverage customers tend to be more loyal to specific brands than other concepts, and many of these chains get most of their revenue from loyalty members.
Starbucks generates more than 60% of its U.S. sales from members of its Starbucks Rewards program.
Two-thirds of transactions at the drive-thru beverage chain Dutch Bros now come from members of its Dutch Rewards program.
CosMc’s plans to open six more locations in Texas this year, which will give the brand 10 units, including the testing lab in Bollingbrook, Illinois.
